July 23

I left Helsinki around noon for my 10hr flight to DFW. I took Dramamine and mostly passed out.

One thing about American parents, they would never hesitate to drug a child that was being fussy on a long flight.

I offered some Dramamine to the guy next to me who had a child that seemed to be losing it a bit, he declined. Then I thought of how very American it was of me to be offering.

My number one purchase that keeps paying dividends is noise cancelling headphones. Even if you are not listening to anything they still cut out so much airplane noise.

I passed out again and woke up right as we were going over Greenland.

Upon arrival I jolted to the customs/passport check area. I just walk faster than most people, this was very helpful in Istanbul. I might not even have to outrun any would-be attacker, I can just outwalk them.

One thing that I noticed is that the line for American passport holders was a lovely blend of all types of people. America is a beautifully diverse place even if I don't get to see it as much living in Oklahoma.

The American passport, a golden ticket.

After I made it through all the security business I found out that my flight had been delayed a couple of hours. Which was fine, I wasn't in a rush.

I got home around 9pm, Haroldo was very happy to see me. For a few days he was very sweet and pet focused.

He's back to his usual self now, turning to bites on a dime.

It's good to be back. I missed my friends and my cat but now I miss İstanbul too.

What a great month away, can't wait to continue this traveling journey.
