This is my first solo travel outside of the United States and I've noticed that there's a day upon arriving to a new place where I'm questioning why I came.
A mental tussle up and down before arriving back at the original reason why I had decided to come.
I came just to be, just to explore and live in a place I've never been. That doesn't have to be filled with constant sight-seeing or plans for the next stop. I came to just be somewhere different than I have been. There's something to be said about being out of our element, away from our people and friends, and having to struggle a little bit to figure things out.
Fethiye is not nearly as busy as Istanbul and I'm enjoying that aspect. It's beautiful all around, something I'm not factoring in when I'm having these conversations in my head. There's something about being on the move that builds up pressure to keep moving. I went to work on coming up with routes and plans of other things to see…but that's not why I came here.
Having arrived back at my original plan, I settled in a bit.
My morning “friend” who waltzed into my apartment today. After kicking her out, she rubbed herself all over me and gave me bites.
A sassy lil mama indeed.
I awkwardly tried to find my way to Çalış beach and ended up getting a taxi to take me. I sat in the front seat on impulse and I'm sure he was surprised by that. I arrived at Çalış, a beautiful rocky beach where sea turtles come to lay their eggs.
I had a little lay while I anxiously googled other places to go. No matter where you go, there you are.
Ordered another Turkish breakfast but they accidentally brought an English one, which was fine and at the very least hilarious to me.
I successfully hopped a Dolmas (what they call the busses here) back to my apartment area. There's no way that I paid enough for the ride but the bus drive didn't seem to mind.
The view from my apartment:
I gave myself permission to be a little lazy in the afternoon considering all the ruminating I had done. I chilled, learned how to work the apartment AC and did laundry.
After my chill I walked to Migros and got some groceries and sunscreen, I'm settling in afterall.
There are cuties all over this town too.
I decided to walk into Fethiye along the seaside to check out the restaurants and look at some boats.
I saw my soulmate riding his bike with a cat on his lap but I'm not quite ready for that yet so I didn't chase after.
“We don't chase boys” Calee says. Not even if they're riding a bike with a cat on their lap?!
😩😩😩
Surely this would be an exception.
I feel like the next two-ish weeks are going to be heavily introspective and prime for meditation. I'm away from the noise of Istanbul, I'll be away from everyone I know with no itinerary.
Of course I'll take a couple of boat trips too, you know, to clear my mind.
Good evening from Fethiye.
