“JUST sit comfortably… by Tahlia Roper

…and close your eyes”

Oh Sam Harris, take me back to present land.

Yesterday had a strange energy about it, several clumsy happenings in a row.

A day where I immediately google, “is Mercury in retrograde?”

I have no basis for this it's just nice to blame it on the stars at my convenience.

If you've ever googled it yourself you'll likely come across this message:

When I feel discombobulated it usually stems from a lack of presence, rather than stars conspiring against me.

Maybe I'll get through the whole day wondering what's going on, only to realize that I've been mindlessly bobbing about.

It's good to have these days though, a reminder how easily things can get out of hand when you're not paying attention.

A reminder to slow down and breathe.

Not to be “that” person but meditation has changed my life.

I'm just over here being the open space in which everything is appearing.

Beautiful sunset yesterday:

Cheers to a new day, a calm day, a day worth being present for.

The smell of summer by Tahlia Roper

Dancing in through the trees, a certain stickiness returns to the air.

Sailboat dreams and memories of last summer seem to say, “this one will be even better”.

It's a perfect time to be in green country.

It's a nice time to be alive.

The more present I become, the better I feel.

I feel an endless excitement about life.

What an adventure this is becoming 💕

Here's your morning song:

What a doozy by Tahlia Roper

My forever phrase.

Where to start!

I have safely arrived back in the TUL 💕

No complaints, life is beautiful.

My ankle is feeling much better, my laundry is done.

The city that often sleeps.

In love from above.

A birthday party and a kitten dibacle

It's been a great day above ground and I leave you with this song 💕

Feeling so by Tahlia Roper

Blessed. I know it seems cliche to say that anymore but I don't mind.

This week has been beautiful. It's been so great to meet my co-workers in person and to get to know them and the business better.

So thankful we are based in Valencia, Ca and not some random Kansas town. What a difference that makes!

The backyard at work.

I'm sad to be leaving but it's also very sad coming back to an apartment without my kitty boi yoi yoi.

Working at a place where you feel valued and supported is just kind of crazy y’all.

California has treated me well. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of it.

I have a lot of love for people, I can't help it. I find people fascinating and love the human connection.

My heart is feeling very full and thankful for this trip 💓.

I feel overwhelmed sometimes at how great my life is, even if I rolled my ankle at the rockin’ jump 🤣.

Wild pack of family dogs by Tahlia Roper

'came running through the yard one day.

It's so beautiful outside this morning 🌄 I'm in love.

I woke up early and went to this little trail nearby to walk for a bit.

Saw some funny little birds and a couple of coyotes.

I love the desert mountain smell.

I love the desert mountain smell.

I'm quite pleased and it's not even 9 o'clock.

Monday monday by Tahlia Roper

“Can't trust that day”

Its actually been a fine day.

Last Friday I found out that one of my friends, an ex-love, had passed away.

Friday also kicked off my first trip to California to visit my company.

What a doozy of a few days it's been.

A mix of highs and lows, beauty and sadness.

Castaic Lake, Valencia, CA.

Life is incredibly beautiful and short and we’re all very lucky at every second that we get.

I feel amazed that I have gotten to experience the things that I have. Always keeping in mind that death just comes, as it wants, always.

“Life's too short, death doesn't ask, it don't owe you that, some things you lose, you don't get back, so just know what you have”

This song always gets me.

Besides losing my Grandpa a couple of years ago, this is my first big loss.

The sadness hits in waves in-between memories and reels of them and scent memories of their smell.

The feeling and smell of a close hug.

Something funny we laughed about.

A favorite dance video.

It's a big loss and taking some time to fully sink in.

It's very strange to have this mixed with my California trip but eh that's life.

What a day that was by Tahlia Roper

And today is brrrsauce for real.

Oh Tulsa! 78 yesterday, 48 today….*chef's kiss*

It was a beautiful Monday indeed. After work I went down to the Gathering Place and found a court just for me. I shuffle-balled hard and then went to this really nice grass hill to take a mini sun nap while finishing up The Knowledge Project podcast with Ray Dalio.

“There's a million ways- to get things done, there's a million ways- to make things work out.”

Just a few days before I fly out to Cali for the first time, an adventure is upon me 🤠.

Morning song by Tahlia Roper

A lot of the time upon waking I will have a song stuck in my head, preloaded from my dream times.

This morning it was Casmir Pulaski Day from Sufjan Stevens.

Sometimes the sound of a song makes me feel more than the lyrics. This song definitely gives me that “beautiful spring morning happy to be alive” vibe.

And of course, I'm all about the horn action.

I love a good horn section, what can I say?

This is from his Austin City Limits performance. I had one good time in Austin, I feel like I'm due for another soon.

Waking up with this beautiful song in my head makes me feel like it'll be a beautiful day.

Happy Monday 🎉

A shower thought last night by Tahlia Roper

Who's going to get my data when I die?

Who will sift through my hundreds (thousands) of photos of my cat? I'm certainly not going to do it.

I don't plan on having children either.

How will google know that I've died? When I stop responding and searching for things? Does that send some sort of alarm to them?

“User 774555993344 hasn't had to search for a word that she already knows how to spell, something may be wrong”

And then regarding that last statement, will we ultimately lose our intuitions because we rely on the internet too much to tell us if we're right or wrong?

I do know how to get somewhere but I'll just let maps actually lead me…

I do know the meaning of that word but I like to make sure of it so I google it…

Something kind of embarrassing that came up for me recently:

I wanted to get a clock to look at in the morning to see what the time is(obviously, that's what clocks are for) instead of immediately being blasted with light from my phone…

Turns out it's been a long time since I've had to read a clock and the one I have does not have numbers, I might be being a little too honest here (hazard of being me) but it took an embarrassing amount of time for me to readjust to reading a clock and telling time…

Yowzers.

What is something that you've let the computer takeover for you?
