That can be done in Oklahoma.
Night Sailing 🌕💕.
When I was coming back from Memphis I got an invite from my friend Chris for a night sail. I hadn't been “party cruising” all summer. Party cruising for me is when I'm not actively racing and I'm just out on a keel boat enjoying the water.
My favorite texts to get are invites to sail.
We were getting the ol Wondrous Lady crew together and setting sail after the taco dinner at the sailing club. What a line.
I invited my friend Calee to join and have her first sail.
Nothing like being out at Windycrest.
We had our tacos and headed down to the boat.
Sailing often includes mishaps, that's part of the fun.
We had several mishaps, really giving the whole experience to Calee. The first mishap was the lights were not working, but we made do with some solar string lights 😅.
It was just a couple days after the full moon and the moon rise was so beautiful and mesmerizing. We all had a good state at her.
Wearing name tags from the taco party, she even got to drive a bit.
I took a dip with a few others and floating in the darkness under the moonlight was surreal.
We mildly got stuck on a sand bar but were able to very slowly sail out of it. Our engine also stopped working and we had to sail very very slowly back in at the end of the night. When we were near but moving at almost 0, I asked Chris if he had tried whispering sweet nothings to it(the engine). He then leaned over, whispered something, tried to start the engine again and it actually worked! This is something that I could not make up, and a hilarious memory I'll keep with me.
I love being on water and in a boat. Very thankful for any and all sails that I've had the opportunity to go on 💞. It is the most magical experience that you can have in Oklahoma.
