Well my day started a little late. I was cozy, I am trying to absorb the rest that I can while I'm unemployed and in a foreign country. Everything will start back up full blast again soon so I'm really trying to soak this time in.
I had to get Mantı today, was there any other option? I did not get Mantı yesterday…it had to be today.
Walked a little bit to a manti place which seemed like a restaurant below a house. The family was chilling, they had a nice garden and ducks hanging out. Even the ducks seemed like the heat was a bit much for them.
But before I get into the Mantı, let's talk about the walk there.
There are beautiful things growing everywhere here: figs, limes, olives, plums, flowers, grapes, cacti…just a regular part of the yards here.
After taking only the shaded paths to the restaurant, I arrived. I ordered mantı and etli yaprak sarma. Eating hot foods on a hot day, I got it like that. I was expecting this to be cold for some reason but they were hot and they were very delicious.
Then the Mantı, which was tasty but I'd still say my İstanbul mantı was slightly better.
I stayed long enough to catch a cook fire a flatbread which is cool because I was wondering how they made these. It's rolled on a stick then laid over a hot curved pan.
I took a walk a little deeper into this neighborhood which was very cute. I saw a nice looking cafe for a çay or coffee but did not stop.
Then I had a special moment with this guy.
I purchased some raki for tonight and wine for Sunday because my bnb host invited me to a bbq which I'm quite excited about attending.
Now I'm having my raki and Şalgam while journalling and answering the question, “what does future me do?”. It's an exercise that I do often to make sure that I'm on track and identity if there's anything that future me does that current me can go ahead and start. A wild Friday night, I know.
The amount of experiences that I've had in the last two weeks has been tremendous and educational…and I have two more weeks left.
What kind of fun things will happen next?
Iyi günler from Fethiye.
